Welcome to our fourth yoga and writing retreat in Portugal, and our second in beautiful Barroca. Join Rachael McGill (hatha yoga teacher, Lisbon) and Michael Langan (The Literary Consultancy/Escrever Escrever Lisbon) for a relaxed, informal writing, walking and wild swimming retreat in the Portuguese sunshine. If all three activities are not for you, it's fine just to do one or two of them and take some time for yourself.
We'll stay in a villa on the stunning Zêzere river, three and half hours by train/bus from Lisbon or four hours from Porto, with swimming beaches and prehistoric rock paintings. Click on the discussion tab for photos.
Five yoga and two meditation sessions, three writing sessions and two group walks/swims. Time for your own exploring and relaxing.
Prices range from €220 for camping to €430 for a private single room (en-suite), inclusive of accommodation, all sessions, vegetarian meals and pick up from Fundão. Scroll down for prices.

Michael has taught creative writing for over 15 years. He has a background in performance poetry as well as a PhD. His writing includes fiction and arts journalism. We will practice in different indoor and outdoor locations and at different times of day. Sessions will differ and can respond to participants' interests - there will be the chance to explore different styles of yoga and to go deeper into some poses.
The writing sessions will focus on self-expression and experimentation. Free-writing exercises, often combined with mindfulness and meditation, will allow you to write in any style, form and language you like. We will create a non-judgmental environment so people feel able to stretch their thinking and practice. Even if you don't consider yourself a writer, there will be something for you to explore. We'll write inside and outside, using landscape, memory and imagination as inspiration for the unexpected.
